About us

Evergreen has been operating as a farm business for several generations now, carefully tending the generous soil of the Fucino region with a respectful view to the natural cycles, the rhythms and the seasons of its land, its climate and their natural interaction.

Evergreen has been drawing inspiration from an ancient Italic goddess worshipped by the Marsi people, called Venuse, a female divinity traditionally associated with vegetation, fertility, nourishment and life and work in the countryside.

With its 2,400 sq.m. large barn, 800 sq.m of greenhouses and 600 sq.m of cold stores, this family business is nowadays located in S. Benedetto dei Marsi, in the Region of Abruzzo, in Central Italy. It boasts a daily production capacity of about 1,000 metric quintals of carrots. The invaluable hard work carried out by the 50 staff members – both permanent and seasonal – has made it possible to establish a cooperation based upon mutual respect and attention to the dignity of labour.

Evergreen has been focusing to a large degree on horticultural output, above all specializing on carrot production. Its products are widely processed by FINDUS, which is a good index of quality in no uncertain terms.

Soon after packaging, Evergreen produce becomes integral part of a fully traceable, recognizable and certified supply chain, of which Green Lands, a network of food producers and farmers, and De Vincentis, a food trading business, are the largest components. The advantage of creating a short supply chain of food products results in quality as well as excellent value for money. Both the finished and the semi-finished products in the supply chain are guaranteed by the strictest benchmark criteria, thanks to the cooperation of farmer-owned local operators manufacturing fresh or semiprocessed produce, and the adoption of EU-regulated quality standards (Reg CE 510/2006).

Evergreen follows the standards of certification of GLOBAL G.A.P., a private sector body that sets voluntary standards for the certification of production processes of agricultural products around the globe. GLOBAL G.A.P. serves as a practical manual for Good Agricultural Practice (G.A.P.). The GLOBAL G.A.P. standard is primarily designed to reassure consumers about how food is produced on the farm: by minimising detrimental environmental impacts of farming operations, by reducing the use of chemical inputs and by ensuring a responsible approach to worker health and safety. It provides a framework for implementation and certification of good agricultural practice which is shared by over 80 countries and over 100 independent auditors worldwide.

...when respect and care for nature bring about quality and excellent results.
